For our training we utilize lightweight Yamaha recreational dirt bikes that are friendly, appropriately sized and durable to teach almost anyone how to ride motorcycles correctly and safely.
Learning in the dirt first holds incredible benefits for both the riding public and the motorcycle industry. With our “Dirt First” approach adventure bike riders are discovering the incredible benefits of training in the dirt first aboard a lightweight dirt bike then training with us again aboard their heavyweight adventure bike.
Our diverse training options are for men and women, boys and girls, and for all skill levels from beginners just starting out to advanced/experienced dirt, street, dual sport, adventure bike, motocross, off-road, or trials riders seeking a motorcycle coach or specialized training. MotoVentures Level 1 beginner training course is a five hour, step-by-step introductory course to riding motorcycles properly without forming bad habits. Our Dirt First approach by using dirt bikes to train any prospective motorcycle rider is widely acknowledged as the best way to start motorcycling.
With great patience, professional instruction, a perfectly-sized dirt bike, and a full set of protective riding gear, our Level 1 students will learn how to properly use the controls, twist a throttle to accelerate and decelerate and use both brakes to stop, how to shift gears and use a manual clutch (except on our 50s, 90s, and 110s). Level l students will also learn turning skills, stand up riding skills, and how to ride various hill challenges. They will learn important mental and visual habits, safety and environmental concerns, rider responsibility and etiquette, and the importance of bike maintenance. They will ride each exercise then follow their instructor as they are lead on a fun trail ride on our 350 acre private property before returning to the range to ride another exercise. With our fun Level 1 course new riders will gain control, confidence, learn what and how to practice, and will be fully prepared for our Level 2 training class and their next riding adventure.
Kids Level 1 Training
Kids Level 1 training courses are designed to be safety-oriented, fun and skill building. Sure kids want to learn how to ride, but they really want to ride somewhere and have a great time so we made an excellent novice-level trail system on our property where we can take them on fun trail rides between the riding exercises. We teach safe riding skills and deliver important messages about how bikes work, what is proper riding gear, environmental concerns, and the expected conduct while riding a dirt bike. Plan ahead to secure your place as space is limited.
Beginner Kids Training: $255 – Our Bike; $185 – Your Bike
This class is the same as our five hour Level 1 class described above. It is for kids and all beginners (solo, with friends or family, etc.) almost every weekend and often on weekdays all year around.

“This has been by far the most challenging days of riding I’ve had in a while. Thanks go out to you for having this kind of business. I don’t know where I would have been able to take out a trials bike like you provided on my first trials adventure. I had a blast!” ~ Brian Eichert – Fullerton, CA More reviews
“Riding trials with MotoVentures has been a great new motorcycle adventure for me. I compete for fun in local club events whenever I can. If you want to try trials, a call to MotoVentures is a great way to start.” ~ Larry Roeseler, Baja 1000 Champion and Desert Racing Legend More reviews
Just like today’s motocross bikes, trials bikes are purpose-built, no-frills, competition machines, which are becoming even more specialized as time goes on. That means they’re really FUN to ride. Trials bikes are designed for a specific purpose (sport); to carry its rider through a marked section of difficult obstacles. A trials competitor must while under observation, keep from going out of bounds, putting their feet down for balance or falling down, or receive penalty points if they do. At the end of the day, the rider with the least penalty points wins.
Moto-Trials is extreme off-road riding at its best and a popular, well-respected international motor-sport, but many people just enjoy play riding on trials bikes. It’s a well-accepted fact that you can learn maximum control techniques on a trials bike that will help you become a better motorcycle rider. Motorcycle racers use trials for cross-training, while experienced riders are always amazed at how their skills have improved. Have you noticed how many of the top AMA Endurocross racers are ex-trials champions? Maybe Moto-Trials is just what you need to give you the advantage you’ve been looking for. So regardless of your desire for challenges or thrills, Moto-Trials is a great motorcycle sport or recreational activity to add to your list of motorcycling must dos.
Our Moto-Trials Experience and Qualifications
When you ride trials with MotoVentures, you will get the patient instructions needed to get started riding trials the correct way and you will be part of a group of six riders or less per instructor. Your training will come from a well-qualified trials expert like Gary or Andre LaPlante with decades of trials competition experience and over 20 years of trials training experience. For advanced and above riders we offer Pro Clinics where we hire top professional riders who can teach and demonstrate any trials riding technique you want. Our Moto-Trials riding experts know what newcomers to trials are capable of doing. We can teach you how with step-by-step instructions that will gradually push your comfort level higher, allowing you to really explore your limits and ride more confidently than you’ve ever ridden before. We’ll ride together all day from one practice section to another teaching, demonstrating, and practicing the key techniques that trials riders take for granted. By the day’s end, you’ll be amazed at how easily you rode through gnarly terrain that would have been impossible to ride on any other bike, and you’ll come away with a greater appreciation for Moto-Trials for recreation and competition.
Our Trials Motorcycles
MotoVentures features a fleet of late model, state-of-the-art trials bikes for our customers to ride. Of course our trials bikes are all properly set-up, prepared, and ready to deliver a full day of fun trials riding. If you are interested in purchasing a trials bike we may have one of our used trials bikes for sale, but if we don’t you can always purchase a new trials bike through us.
Our Private Moto-Trials Riding Paradise
MotoVentures enjoys our own conveniently-located private 350-acre Moto-Trials riding paradise at our Rider Training Center, near Anza, CA., where we also teach our off-road, dirt bike, dual sport, and adventure bike riding curriculums. Our place has so much great trials riding terrain that the Southern California Trials Association now holds club events here every year. In fact, we host the famous annual El Trial de Espana event and AMA Trials Nationals. When you ride trials at MotoVentures you will be riding on sections with many different lines that are already cleared and maybe even marked so you can experience what it’s like to ride a real trials (competition) section.
Our Moto-Trials Riding Gear
When riding trials you can use off-road riding gear, but it was designed for high speed riding and often overly padded and restrictive for trials riding. Two items to consider borrowing (or purchasing) from us are a good pair of trials boots and a good open face trials helmet. Motorcycle Trials boots are light, flexible and designed for walking and riding, while trials helmets are light, vented, and have an open face for easy breathing. Both reflect the relatively low speed requirements of this specialized sport. When you ride with us you can bring your own riding gear or use our riding gear. Of course we have almost all sizes, but if you want your own gear, we are an authorized dealer for most popular brands and can have all your new trials riding gear waiting for you when you join us for a day of trials riding.
Adventure Bike Rider Training
MotoVentures Dirt First Adventure Bike (AB) Rider Training is our Level 2 training with a few additional lessons to address the unique requirements of riding a big 650cc (engine) and above adventure bike. For adventure bike riders we offer Level 2 training classes almost every weekend, we offer monthly training dates specifically for adventure bike riders, we offer 2-day adventure bike camps, and we host adventure bike dealership-sponsored dates too.
The MotoVentures approach to adventure bike rider training is acknowledged by all the experts as the best way to learn to ride these big bikes: Many AB riders have only street rider training and experience and no background or experience in the dirt riding. If you do not have dirt bike riding experience and training we recommend taking our Level 2 class on a light, friendly, crash-able dirt bike first (your bike or ours) then taking our adventure bike riding class on a big adventure bike (your bike or ours).
